In life, it happens that sometimes walking away seems as the only rational decision to make, particularly when fatigue, disillusionment, and doubt start to prevail over hope. But there are times when, just when one is about to leave it all behind a sudden thought, or a memory, or a voice inside a person can halt them and make them go back to what they thought they had lost.
The Breaking Point

She had gone as far as she could go, in terms of emotional advantage, which never comes in a single flash or burst, but is gradually acquired by a series of failures, unsuitable replies, the silent burden of bearing too much too long. The fact that she wanted to leave was not the only thing so strong; she genuinely felt that there was nothing left to hold on to.
Silent Exhaustion

She might have appeared calm, competent and even serene to those around her, yet behind the facade was a sense of deep fatigue which had been building up over months. More than often emotional exhaustion masquerades in the guise of routine and in her case, it masqueraded so well that even she was not exactly aware to the extent to which she had gone in letting down on something which once held so much to her heart.
One Last Look

When she was about to walk away, it was not a dramatic moment, or a loud quarrel, or a scene of unmasked wrath, but simply a long silence that was even more than might have been anticipated. That moment of pause had seen her turn back, what she believed would be a parting, and the slight, almost unconscious movement was the start of a totally different ending.
A Familiar Memory

Nothing halted her, however, like a great omen or something out of the ordinary, but a memory delivered to her with shocking vividness just as she needed it. She recalled who she had been when she had first started, what had inspired her, and how much of herself she had invested in the journey as far as fear and frustration had started to rewrite the narrative.
Inner Resistance

The best impetus in a hard situation is sometimes not external support, but the silent opposition within the individual who is not yet prepared to give in. The heart may see purpose that has not been fulfilled even where logic dictates that a person should move on and that inner struggle can often affirm that the wish to leave is there, but the wish to continue trying is not lost.
Choosing Return

Reverting was not the solution to all her troubles or a way to make the road all light, clear, and sure. It was her conscious decision to remain in a challenging situation, to believe that not all chapters should be terminated when the pain is the deepest, and to be sure that it is sometimes the most courageous thing a human being does when he/she steps backward into the unknown.
Strength In Pause

People generally hold that strength always manifests itself as the willingness to go forward and never look back but it is often found in the moment of hesitation before action and retreat. That silence provided her with sufficient time to reconnect with what was most important and it made her aware that when we make decisions when we are exhausted they are not always the most accurate ones that reflect what the soul is really wanting.
The Turning Moment

It was not a miracle, but a transformation of point of view that enabled her to look at the situation with new honesty and not with raw emotion. This very place that a minute ago seemed like a dead end now seemed like a challenge of patience, endurance, and self-belief, proving that it is possible to find a meaning in a moment when a person decides to interpret this moment in a different way.
A Different Path

In going back, she was not the same person she almost was the one who had walked away, since hard times always make an imprint and can usually bend identity. She came back with more defined lines, with better self knowledge and with a clearer knowledge of the fact that persistence does not mean ostrich-like behavior, it means that pain is not going to write the end of the story, but you, yourself, will.
